In this regard, you cannot carry a concealed weapon in a governmental building, an elementary school, a secondary school or into many types of public events. Moreover, you cannot carry a concealed weapon into an establishment where alcohol is sold. In most states this means into a bar; however, in other states this extends to any place where alcohol is served or sold - a much broader definition.

In addition to these generalized prohibitions when it comes to a concealed weapon permit, you need to appreciate that states typically have provisions in the concealed weapon legislation that allow privately owned businesses the ability to prohibit concealed weapons in their establishments. In this regard a proprietor needs to put up a statutorily prescribed warning sign in order to enforce such a prohibition.
